EMILIA ABDENROTHEmilia was born in Munich, Germany to Hans and Frieda Abdenroth. Her parents - both born into elite Bavarian families - married and consolidated their respective empires which included hotels and resorts, banking and aerospace engineering.
Being a daughter of two business titans didn't allow Emilia the quality time with her parents afforded to most kids. However, growing up in a plush Grünwald mansion, she was given the absolute best of everything. |
Emilia was 12 when the hotel business started to go global, and from then on, she became a well travelled young lady. The expansion of the Abdenroth Hotel empire took Emilia all around Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. She enjoyed exploring the more bohemian quarters of the towns and cities where Abdenroth hotels would open, taking in the sights, sounds and - most importantly for Emilia - the vintage clothing emporiums. It didn't take Emilia long to realise that the fashion world was where she belonged.
Wherever the Abdenroth family went, Emilia was given the best schooling and taken everywhere by limousine under heavy guard. After a while, Emilia found this lifestyle suffocating. She would start a new school and make new friends, only to be uprooted months later when it was time to move on. This meant that lasting friendships were very difficult to forge for young Emilia. Romantic relationships were out of the question too, with her strict parents making it very difficult for boys to get near her due to the constant security surrounding her.
Craving stability, and driven to make her own way in the world, one day when going through one of her many sketch books filled with dress designs, she decided to take the first steps towards becoming a fashion designer and launching her own collections. For fun, she had a limited number of pieces made, and had some of her friends in Grünwald model them. To her delight, this got the attention of the woman who was once the highest paid model in the world - Helena Marple. After some back-and-forth communication, it was arranged for Emilia to come to the UK to meet Helena to discuss a potential collaboration.
Something of an Anglophile, Emilia always loved to spend time in the UK. And with the young designer's plans coming to fruition, her parents allow her to stay in the charming town of Silvervale to pursue her dream with Helena. Her mother arranges for her to stay with a wealthy family friend, and her father even agrees to bankroll the venture... one one condition: that she completes her high school education and aces her exams. Enrolling in the Silvervale Academy, she will get to meet Helena's daughter, the enigmatic Grace Marple - a girl who will change Emilia's life forever.
